SCAPR welcomes Colonel Tim Trimailo for our February luncheon. Colonel Trimailo is the Director of the Commercial Space Office (COMSO), Space Systems Command (SSC), Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. Col. Trimailo oversees SSC’s integration of commercial capabilities across all United States Space Force (USSF) mission areas.  Charged with enacting a “Buy Before Build” paradigm shift, he executes over $1 Billion in investments mitigating critical capability gaps for the warfighter while interacting with senior Department of the Air Force members, Congressional staff, and leaders of industry.

COLONEL TIMOTHY W. TRIMAILO
Colonel Tim Trimailo is the Director of the Commercial Space Office (COMSO), Space Systems Command (SSC), Los Angeles Air Force Base, California.

Col. Trimailo oversees SSC’s integration of commercial capabilities across all United
States Space Force (USSF) mission areas. Charged with enacting a “Buy Before Build” paradigm shift, he executes over $1 Billion in investments mitigating critical capability gaps for the warfighter while interacting with senior Department of the Air Force members, Congressional staff, and leaders of
industry. Prior to this role, Col. Trimailo was the Program Manager for Space Development Agency’s Missile Tracking Layer programs and Materiel Leader for SSC’s investments in proliferated-low Earth orbit (pLEO) prototyping efforts, to include managing the joint Blackjack pLEO technology demo
program with DARPA.

Colonel Trimailo received his commission in 2005 after graduation from the United States Air Force Academy and began his career in satellite command and control operations at Schriever AFB, CO, culminating as 3rd Space Operations Squadron Senior Crew, 50th Operations Group Standardization
and Evaluations Branch. Following this assignment, Col. Trimailo served at the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) as the Lead for Wideband Global Satellite Communications Operations and Sustainment. During this assignment, Col. Trimailo deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and served as the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) staff Director, Air Force Program Executive Officer (PEO) for space staff, where he was a key advisor to the PEO on MILSATCOM acquisition and policy issues. After his first SMC assignment, Col. Trimailo was the Deputy Chief, Multi-Intelligence Analytic Division at the National
Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, Virginia. In this role, he managed a portfolio of projects developing intelligence analysis software and algorithms used across the Intelligence, DoD, and Law Enforcement communities. Prior to his current assignment, Col. Trimailo was the Executive Officer to the Director, Air Force Legislative Liaison, Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington D.C.
